Digital marketing involves any marketing done online through the Internet. It incorporates among others, 5 major components which are: content marketing, social media marketing, email marketing, search engine marketing and search engine optimization. For you to become a digital marketing expert, you must learn the nitty-gritty of these various components of marketing and incorporate them into your digital marketing campaign. 
Content marketing is the art of creating interesting contents that sells or markets a client's business online or drives traffic to blogs and websites. Social media marketing is the process of utilizing the various social networking sites to promote and market a client's business. Everyday, people are on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln, Google+, Instagram etc. You need to learn to use these various social networks for your digital marketing campaign. 

Email marketing is the art of sending out frequent email updates about your client's business to your email subscribers. Search engine marketing involves the art of using the search engines for marketing. 
This is similar to content marketing, the more contents you create on a blog or website, the more your contents gets noticed by search engines like: Google, Yahoo and Bing, which increases your blog or website visibility. While search engine optimization is the art of optimizing blogs or website to be visible to search engines, and rank higher in search engines results page(SERP).
